The perimeter was guarded by towers with about 5 bunkers between each tower. Each tower was labeled with a letter, and the bunkers were numbered. Every company on the base was assigned to guard a tower and a set of bunkers. Ron is posing in front our tower, tower "E". |

Ron standing on the water tanker. The base did not have running water. Water was trucked into our company using this 5,000 gallon tanker. Water was taken from the lake located near the base. |
Looks like they're taking a break from building the barracks. There tents before they build these buildings. |

| These are pictures of Lee. She was the cutest and most personable waitress at our EM (Enlisted Men's) club. Ron is posing with her on left. John Swaze is posing with her on right. An interesting story. Our company had several linguists, or interpreters. Denny Haney was a linguist. Denny and Lee were in love. Denny wanted to marry her. Prior to enlisting, Denny was a professional magician. Denny was returning from Vietnam and getting out of the Army, but our commanding officer refused Denny's request to marry Lee, because most of us in the 330th RRC had top secret clearances. Denny promised Lee he would return for her. Denny kept his word, after his release, Denny joined a group that performed for the troops in Vietnam. Denny caught up with Lee in Pleiku, brought her back to the U.S. and married her. Sadly, their marriage ended in divorce after about 20 years. You can learn more about Denny and Lee's story by visiting his magic shop website: http://dennymagic.com/store/. | |||||||||||||||||||
Each building was surrounded by a wall filled with sand. This was to protect people in the building in the event of mortor or rocket attack. |

The pallets were used as a sidewalk between the rows of barracks. |

When Ron would get out the Army, his goal was to make a movie, which was a take on "Is Paris Burining?". He was going to make the film with his high school buddies. Ron took advantage of the Vietnamese tailors to make a German flag. A prop for his movie. Ron did make the movie. Ron played Hitler. |
